Who Gets Bipolar Disorder?

Nearly 6 million American adults have bipolar disorder. Yet, this disorder can be hard to diagnose because people don’t recognize the signs and symptoms.

  • Bipolar disorder affects both men and women
  • Most often, the first manic episode occurs in the late teens or early 20s. But it can also happen in young children and older adults
  • Some people are born with a greater chance of getting bipolar disorder. It can run in families

Everyone is different, and this disease can affect people differently. If you think you or a loved one may have bipolar disorder, talk to your doctor about treatment options. GEODON is approved for the treatment of acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar disorder.
