A. Having a mental illness such as schizophrenia does not mean that someone is prone to violence. In fact, research shows that risk of violence among individuals with a mental illness is very small.

Q. Will schizophrenia last a lifetime, or can it be cured?

A. Schizophrenia is a life-long brain disorder. And while there is no cure for schizophrenia, it is a condition that can be managed. Support from doctors and caregivers can help people manage symptoms.
